ICHTHYS Theatre is very excited to announce that the teaching talents of actor, writer, director of stage and screen, John Tench, will be returning to ICHTHYS Theatre’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on February 16, 2019<\/g> at the beautifully renovated Coach House at Glenhyrst Gardens, 20 Ava Rd. Brantford, ON. Doors open at 9:30 am and then John Tench will take the floor at 10 am leading a special Workshop he calls, Truth in Character and Believability. The business of the annual meeting will begin at 11:30 am.
\u201cI will be talking about the monologue from Hamlet where Shakespeare, using Hamlet’s words, gives directions to the Player King about the upcoming performance,\u201d says Tench.  

He asks those participating to prepare a short monologue from any Contemporary or Classical theatre source, no more than a minute or two. \u201cWe will talk about Stanislavski’s Method and Character in Performance,\u201d explains Tench.

\u201cI saw a film once when I was quite young,\u201d he adds. \u201cThe Man of a Thousand Faces.\u201d He continues, \u201cIt was about the great character actor Lon Chaney, his life story and his search for truly believable portrayals of characters in Acting. I was amazed and found myself thinking, \u2018Now that is magic! I want to do that!\u2019 I’ve been hooked ever since.\u201d 
\u201cSign me up,\u201d says ICHTHYS founder and Artistic Director Lorna Stratton. \u201cJohn Tench has a Brantford connection and is a friend to community theatre and we are glad to have him back,\u201d she says.
Those wishing to participate directly in the Workshop are asked to register online through OnStage Direct<\/a><\/strong> or call 519-751-5411 and a fee of $10 will be charged to thank John Tench for his time. However, people will be permitted to quietly audit the Workshop free of charge and all are welcome at ICHTHYS Theatre business AGM. Memberships to ICHTHYS Theatre will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be served.
